As a group, we portray the 137th New
York Volunteer Infantry Regiment only.

All persons interested in the
membership must complete an application Form. Applications will be reviewed
and voted on by the 137th membership as a whole before the applicant is
accepted in to the ranks.

Annual dues are set at$20.00 per household,
and are to be paid by April 1 of each year.

Minimum age for military
membership is 16 years. Any person wishing to handle a firearm period, carry
the regimental flag during a fire events, must be over 16 years of age.
Musicians must be over 11 years of age. All persons under the age of 18 must
be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Women are permitted in the ranks, but
must portray a male soldier.

Membership in fellow living history
units( organizations is permitted where it does not cause conflict with
duties or responsibilities (elected officials).

Illegal drugs and drunkenness are absolutely
prohibited. No minor is to be in possession of alcohol at any time.
This is a zero tolerance.
7A. In an effort to keep a clean and
enjoyable atmosphere for all persons, profanity is strongly discouraged.

Any applicant who has been convicted of a
felony will be barred from membership. Any member of the 137th convicted
of a felony will automatically be expelled.

Members are responsible for obtaining and maintaining
their own "period" clothing and equipment. 9A. Only
a-frame (wedge tents) and shelter halves will be permitted in "military
camps". Wall tents are allowed in the "civilian camps".

Members staying in modern camping or
motels are responsible for obtaining an event schedule, and are expected to
be punctual for all scheduled formations.

Members are required to sign in at all
event registrations.

BUSINESS: All business matters shall be handled by
the majority vote. 12A. By-Laws will be revised by majority vote.

Voting rights will not retained by a
member if yearly dues are not received by April 1. Members will regain these
voting rights upon full payment of membership

Military rank and promotions will
be decided by the majority of military members 14A.Elected NCOs / officers portray only the
corresponding rank on the field and have no riding authority within the general
membership at events or meetings

SAFETY:
The 137th adheres to the safety
Regulations & Operating Procedures of the USV. The
by-laws of the 137th NY conform to, and in some cases, supersede the
standards set forth by the USV.

Every member will receive and complete a
Medical Emergency Sheet. This form is to be placed in a waterproof bag and
carried on your persons at all times.... preferably in your haversack.
All medications must be in a prescription bottle with proper dosage
information. These precautions could save your life in a medical
emergency.
